Sheriff’s office looking for dog that disappeared under suspicious circumstances

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is looking for Jupiter, a 7-year-old miniature pinscher that went missing recently under suspicious circumstances.

According to a July 9 news release from the TCSO, Jupiter went missing under suspicious circumstances around June 29 in Yelm. Lt. Cameron Simper told The Olympian on June 10 that Jupiter was being watched by a man who the dog’s owners hired through a dog sitting service and that they had no connection to him.

The sitter left a note for Jupiter’s owners that said she ran away, according to the TCSO news release. The sitter’s family allegedly told authorities that it’s possible he may be experiencing a mental health crisis. Simper told The Olympian that investigators do not have a warrant for the man’s arrest.

Jupiter is described as a red Miniature Pinscher that looks like a Chihuahua mix. The sitter may be driving a blue 2007 VW Beetle with plate number CEG5273, according to the TCSO news release. Anyone with information regarding the dog’s whereabouts should contact dispatch at 360-704-2740.
