Downtown restaurant Acqua Via closes
The downtown Olympia restaurant Acqua Via, which occupied a corner at Capitol Way and Fifth Avenue for eight years, has closed, according to an announcement on the restaurant’s website.
The Olympian could not reach Acqua Via owner Jeff Taylor, who also owns Waterstreet Cafe near Heritage Park, on Thursday.
“We’ve had a fabulous time exploring fabulous food with our fabulously faithful customers,” the website post reads. “But time passes, life changes, and sometimes it’s just time to move on.”
“We appreciate your great ‘taste’ and sense of adventure! Keep exploring! We will, too!”
The 1,900-square-foot space may not be vacant for long, said Shelley Foltz of The Rants Group, a managing broker and co-listing agent for the corner site.
The space has been on the market for about two weeks and already Foltz has heard from a couple of restaurant operators who are interested in the location, she said.
“It’s nothing firm, and they’ve made no commitment, but they have expressed interest,” Foltz said.
