Gathering planned near Olympia City Hall at 6 p.m. today

A gathering in support of skateboarders Andre Thompson and Bryson Chaplin is planned for 6 p.m. today on the corner of State and Cherry, near the Olympia City Hall.

A group called Full Circle United has posted information about the event on Facebook under the title “Justice for Andre and Bryson - Responding to the Report.” The posting includes specific instructions for participation.

City officials warn drivers that there will be both traffic and pedestrian congestion in and around the area, and recommend that people who are not attending the gathering avoid the area after 5 p.m.

The two young men who were both shot by Olympia Police Officer Ryan Donald during a May 21 altercation are facing charges for an alleged assault. Donald told investigators that he shot the two men after one of the them tried to attack him with a skateboard.
