A controlled burn at the Scatter Creek Wildlife Area may produce smoke visible from Interstate 5, according to the Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The burn will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Controlled burns are for wildlife habitat improvement and endangered species conservation, according to David W. Hays, DFW.

Three 2.5 acre burn units are planned for today. Professional firefighters will be on site.
