Chehalis-Western Trail reopens at trestle

The Chehalis-Western Trail has re-opened in the section that crosses beneath the Rainier Road train trestle. The trail had been closed since June 19 when Burlington Northern Santa Fe began the replacement of the trestle. County crews have now removed the barricades.

There could be one or two additional short-term closures of the site between now and the end of October when a guardrail will be installed. These closures will be for one day or less, according to a news release.

The trail, which was 4 feet wide, is now 10 feet wide where it crosses beneath the train trestle.
