PSE: Substation goes offline in Hawks Prairie, cuts power to 2,700 customers in Lacey

Power was knocked out to about 3,000 Puget Sound Energy customers in Lacey at noon Wednesday after a substation in Hawks Prairie went offline, a utility spokesman said.

The power outage affected mostly Lacey customers, although an area near the Olympia Farmers Market reportedly was without power, too.

Power is expected to be restored at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, spokesman Ray Lane said. The cause of the outage hasn’t been determined, he said.

This is the second consecutive day of local power outages after about 2,400 PSE customers lost power in the Tumwater area on Tuesday.

In that incident, a bird short-circuited a power line, Lane said.
