Monday (Oct. 12)

Indigenous Peoples Day: The first celebration of this event will be 4-8 p.m. at Sylvester Park in downtown Olympia. Activities include speakers, drumming, storytelling and music. From noon to 3 p.m., a mural highlighting Leonard Peltier will be displayed at the Artesian Commons Park, 421 Fourth Ave. The event includes drums, speakers and vendors.

Tuesday

Candidates forum: The Mason County Senior Activities Center and the League of Women Voters of Mason County plan a free event from 2-4 p.m. at the Senior Activities Center, 190 W. Sentry Drive, Shelton. Come meet candidates for the positions of mayor, commissioners of finance and accounting, Port of Shelton Position 1, and four Shelton School Board positions. Christmas show auditions: Wrinkles of Washington will have its Christmas show auditions from 6-8 p.m. at the Lacey Senior Center, 6757 Pacific Ave. SE. WOW’s Christmas shows will be Dec. 5 at the Lacey Senior Center and Dec. 12 at The Olympia Center, 222 Columbia St. NW.

Welcome home: Sacred Heart Catholic Church invites those who have been away from the church to return. Meetings will address questions, concerns and doubts. The event is 6:30-8 p.m. in Hallen Hall, 812 Bowker St. SE, Lacey. Information: 260-491-0890, Ext. 104.

Wednesday

Candidate forum: Candidates for Olympia mayor and City Council Position 1 will discuss issues from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. at The Olympia Timberland Library, 313 Eighth Ave. SE. A question-and-answer period will follow the candidates’ prepared remarks. Information: 360-352-0595.

Thursday

History talk at noon: A free monthly talk features Tracy Rebstock from State Archives at noon at Schmidt House, 330 Schmidt Place SW, Tumwater. Seating is first-come, and doors open at 11:30 a.m. Information: olytumfoundation.org, 360-786-8117.
