No injuries in Evergreen Valley fire near Lacey

No injuries were reported in a fire in a converted barn on Evergreen Valley Road Southeast Monday morning.

According to Thurston County dispatch, the fire was reported at 4:13 a.m., and Lacey Fire District 3 responded.

The barn, in the 11000 block of Evergreen Valley Road Southeast, had living quarters on both levels. One person jumped to safety, according to Lacey Fire Chief Steve Brooks.

There were no livestock in the barn; the pets were rescued unharmed.

The fire started in one of the living units, Brooks said.

Because of the rural location, water had to be brought in by tender. Yelm and East Olympia fire departments sent tenders, in addition to two tenders that responded from Lacey.

The living units were badly damaged, a department spokesman said.
