Haunted School: Avanti High School hosts its third Haunted School 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Knox Building, 1113 Legion Way SE. The cost is $5 per person. The students run this event as a fundraiser for their spring trip to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland. Information: 360-596-7900.

Dark Tales for a Chilly Night: Storytellers Maggie Lott and Rebecca Hom tell spooky, ghostly tales for adults and older kids beginning at 7 p.m., at Traditions Cafe, 300 Fifth Ave., Olympia.

Friday

Bingo Karaoke Party: Enjoy a slightly goofy version of regular bingo that alternates with karaoke and sing-along from 7-10 p.m., at the Shelton Pavilion, 190 Sentry Drive. Optional Halloween night theme this month. Cash bar and snacks for sale. Open to adults 21 and older. Cost: $10 cash per person for 8 games of bingo with $30 shared payouts. 50/50 games additional. Day of the Dead masquerade party: CIELO is hosting its Fourth annual Dia de Muertos masquerade fundraiser, 6-10 p.m., at the Woman’s Club, 1002 Washington St. SE, in downtown Olympia. Featured this year is DJ Kalambre, playing a mix of Latino music for dancing. Enjoy an authentic “altar de muertos”, traditional decorations and tamales, salsa lessons, sugar skull face-painting, and a silent auction. Come in costume if you like. Children’s folkloric group Mexico en El Corazon performs at 6:45; Samba Olywa’s Bone Gang performs at 7:15. Event supports CIELO’s language and literacy programs. Candy Land: Trick or treat safely at trunk-to-trunk, instead of door-to-door, at 6-9 p.m. at Capital Christian Center, 4431 Martin Way E., Olympia.

Zombies: Dozens of downtown Olympia business invite trick-or-treaters to Zombies Everywhere from 1-4 p.m.. Find zombie dolls in stores and you could win a prize. For locations, rules and more, go to halloweenolympia.com.

Pumpkin Dash: 5K and 10K races benefit Tenino PTA. Registration is 8 to 8:45 a.m., races start at 9 a.m. at Tenino Elementary School. Entries are available at the Olympia South Sound Running Store and day of the race. Information: 360-791-0821 or teninoptacommunications @gmail.com.

Nov. 1

AIDNW “Friend Raiser” and celebration: The non-profit agency that offers welcome and advocacy for recently released detainees from Detention Center Northwest will host this event 6-9 p.m. at Traditions Cafe, 300 Fifth Ave., Olympia. The Second annual Interfaith All Souls Service: Service to celebrate and mourn the lives of people who died in our community in 2015, but whose remains have not been claimed by family or friends, will begin at 2:30 p.m., at Mills and Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Road, in Tumwater. They may have died alone, but they are not forgotten. Thurston County Coroner, Gary Warnock, will make brief remarks. Meditative music will be performed and interfaith eulogies by faith leaders will be offered. A litany of the deceased will form the heart of the service. All are welcome.
