Event for released detainees: A nonprofit agency that welcomes and advocates for recently released detainees from Detention Center Northwest will host an event 6-9 p.m. at Traditions Cafe, 300 Fifth Ave., Olympia. Interfaith All Souls Service: Help mark and mourn the lives of people who died in our community in 2015 but whose remains have not been claimed by family or friends. The service begins at 2:30 p.m. at Mills and Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Road, Tumwater. Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock will make brief remarks. Meditative music will be performed and interfaith eulogies by faith leaders will be offered. A litany of the deceased will form the heart of the service. All are welcome.

Toy N Joy Shop: Those wishing to apply for participation in the Salvation Army’s Toy N Joy Shop should come in person between 8:30-11:30 a.m. or 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army Church, 1505 Fourth Ave. E., in Olympia. Bring picture identification, Social Security cards for all household members, proof of low-income status and proof of residency, which must be in Olympia, Lacey or Tumwater. International Connection: Altrusa International of Olympia is sponsoring an International Connection evening at 7 p.m. at Tumwater High School, 700 Israel Road SW, to provide foreign exchange students and their host families an opportunity to meet and exchange contact information and ideas. If you are a foreign exchange student or hosting an exchange student and would like to attend, call 360-493-1812.
Women of Achievement celebration: This year’s event begins at 5 p.m. at The Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SW, in Olympia. Social hour 5-6 p.m. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature racial and gender justice activist Naomi Tutu. Honorees are Khurshida Begum, Barbara Clarkson, Kristin Jacobsen and Marsha Tadano Long as Women of Achievement; Kimberly Perry as Young Women of Achievement; and Together as the Business of Achievement. Tickets are $25 for the main event, $20 for students and seniors, $10 for youth and $100 for the main event and soiree. Tickets available at olytix.org or by calling 360-753-8586.

Dinner and auction: Lacey South Sound Chamber of Commerce presents the homecoming-themed dinner and auction at 6 p.m. at Indian Summer Golf & Country Club, 5900 Troon Lane SE, Olympia. Fit to Fight Bazaar: The bazaar benefits Relay for Life/American Cancer Society and runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 8529 58th Ave. SE.
City Gates Ministries Auction: Events for the evening include dinner, auctions and and a Great Wolf Lodge raffle. 4:30-9:30pm, at Westwood Baptist Church, 333 Kaiser Road NW, Olympia. Tickets are $35 available at citygatesministries.org.
