Authority on tribal law plans free lecture at Evergreen
Charles Wilkinson, an expert on American Indian law, will lead a free workshop, “The Washington Tribes, and the Greatness of the Boldt Decision for Washington Tribes and the Nation,” from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Nov. 14 at The Evergreen State College Longhouse Education and Cultural Center.
The event, which is sponsored by Evergreen’s Reservation-Based program and the Muckleshoot Charitable Foundation, is open to the public. Admission is free.
Wilkinson is a professor at Colorado Law School, and author of “Messages from Frank’s Landing: A Story of Salmon, Treaties and the Indian Way” and “Blood Struggle: The Rise of Modern Indian Nations.”
The lecture is part of a series of events to celebrate the Evergreen longhouse’s 20th anniversary. The college is at 2700 Evergreen Parkway NW, Olympia.
