Fish Tale Ale’s Beyond the Pale Ale has been named the 2015 World’s Best Beer by the World Beer Awards.

More than 1,000 beers from more than 30 countries were entered into the competition organized by Paragraph Publishing Ltd. in the United Kingdom. Beers from America, Asia and Europe first were judged in regional-style heats before winners were tasted against each other in each style. The final two rounds were held in London, where 50 international brewers, industry experts and journalists tasted and voted on the World’s Best Beers.

In addition to taking top honors, Fish Brewing Co. was awarded America’s Best Black IPA for its Reel Ales Swordfish Double Cascadian Dark Ale, and its Leavenworth Boulder Bend Dunkelweizen won America’s Best Dark Beer.

“This award is a credit to our ongoing commitment to making amazing beers,” said Sal Leone, CEO and president of Fish Brewing, in a news release. “At a time when American brewers offer so much variety, it’s a true honor to be recognized as the world’s finest.”

Earlier this year Fish Brewing Company was named the 2015 Washington State Brewery of the Year at the Washington Beer Awards competition.

Fish Brewing Co. was founded in 1993 by Crayne and Mary Horton. It operates a 40-barrel brew house and brew pub on Jefferson Avenue in downtown Olympia.
