Van allegedly crashes into Thurston County fire department vehicle on Saturday
A McLane Black Lake Fire District 9 vehicle, which was responding to an emergency at the time, was allegedly hit by a van in the area of Evergreen Parkway and southbound U.S. Hwy. 101 on Saturday, according to the Washington State Patrol.
All eight people in the van, including the 53-year-old driver of Montesano, were injured and either taken to Capital Medical Center or Providence St. Peter Hospital. The five-member crew aboard the fire department vehicle, including the 23-year-old driver of Snohomish, were unhurt.
The state patrol gives the following account about Saturday’s accident:
About 11:30 a.m. Saturday, in the area of Evergreen Parkway and southbound U.S. Hwy. 101, the fire department vehicle “cut across all lanes of travel,” attempting to get to the scene of a prior accident in the median.
It’s at this point that the van allegedly struck the fire department vehicle, according to the state patrol.
The crash was under investigation.
