Prather Road, between Lee and Bicknell roads in southwest Thurston County, has been closed because of a crack that appeared in the road, according to the Thurston County Public Works department.

The crack likely formed after the pounding rain that swept through the region over the weekend.

If you live in the area, however, you’ll face another problem: Independence Road, between James and Michigan Hill roads, also is closed because of water over the road.

The decision to open Independence Road will depend on when the Chehalis River recedes, public works staff said.

The county suggests that residents in the area use Lincoln Creek Road, which runs through part of Lewis County.
