Yelm man faces hit-and-run, DUI charges after Friday night accident

A 54-year-old Yelm man is facing vehicular hit-and-run and driving under the influence charges after he crashed into a truck Friday night and left the scene of the accident, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 10:30 p.m. Friday, the Yelm man was northbound on Meridian Road Southeast in a Saturn when he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a Toyota Tacoma on eastbound state Route 510.

That location is about three miles southeast of Lacey.

The Yelm man allegedly left the scene and continued on state Route 510 until the “vehicle was no longer drivable and collided with the barrier,” according to the state patrol.

Three people were in the Toyota Tacoma. The 29-year-old Rainier woman driving the truck and one of her passengers were not hurt. A third passenger — a 21-year-old Rainier man — was injured and taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.
