Burn ban lifted in Thurston County
Because of improved air quality and changing weather, the Stage 1 burn ban has been lifted in Thurston County, starting at noon Monday (Nov. 30).
A substantial reduction in smoke output due at least in part to the burn ban imposed Friday has reduced stagnant pollution and moved air quality back into the "green" on the Washington Air Quality Advisory scale.
Under a Stage 1 Ban, no burning is allowed in fireplaces or uncertified wood stoves, and all outdoor burning is prohibited, even in areas where outdoor burning is not permanently banned.
