Thursday

Spice of the Season: Enjoy an evening of spirit in story and song at 7 p.m. at Traditions Cafe, 300 Fifth Ave., Olympia. Storytellers are Maggie Lott and Rebecca Hom.

Holiday concerts: The South Puget Sound Community College Music Program is offering three holiday concerts. On Friday, the SPSCC Concert Choir and SPSCC Concert Band performs at 7 p.m. The concert will be on the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts Mainstage. Tickets are $10 general admission and free to all SPSCC students, staff and faculty — with identification. On Saturday, the South Puget Sound College Orchestra offers two performances; one at 3 p.m. and another at 7:30 p.m. Those concerts will also be on the Minnaert Center Mainstage. Tickets are $10 for general admission; $8 for seniors, non-SPSCC students (with identification) and members of the military; and free for all SPSCC students, staff and faculty with a valid identification. Carol singalong: Unity of Olympia, 1335 Fern St. SW, will host an old-fashioned Christmas Carol Sing-Along from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Hot apple cider will be served. No charge to attend, but donations will be accepted. This program is part of Unity’s regular First Friday events, which features speakers, music and films. Saturday

Parade of lighted ships: Deck the Hulls kicks off at 6 p.m. at the Port Plaza. Parade registration is 3-5 p.m. at the Olympia Yacht Club, 201 Simmons St. NW. For more information, go to olympiayachtclub.org.

38th Olympia Toy Run: Gates open and festivities begin at 10 a.m. at South Sound Center in Lacey. Kickstands up at 1 p.m. The cost to ride is $10 for singles and $15 for couples, or a new, unwrapped toy or gift for any age child and don’t forget the older kids For information on fundraising sales and entertainment, go to olytoyrun.com.

‘Mistletunes and Songflakes’: Masterworks Choral Ensemble continues its 35th Anniversary Season with selections from “The Polar Express” and “Frozen” and will include a performance by Garfield Elementary School student Martha Nguyen on piano. Masterworks performs at 7:30 p.m., at The Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE, Olympia. Silent auction precedes the concert at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $21 for seniors and $14 for students. Winter Fest Bazaar in Tenino: A winter festival runs 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at Tenino High School, 500 W. Second St.

Run: The Jingle Bell Run will be at Saint Martin’s University, 5000 Abbey Way SE. Registered runners can pick up their swag bags Friday from 3:30-7 p.m. in the Norman Worthington Conference Center. Check-in and day-of registration at 8 a.m. at the center. All proceeds benefit Saint Martin’s athletics. Adult registration (until Saturday) is $40; military is $30; middle school, high school and college students (with valid identification) is $10; and kids 11 and younger are free (does not include the T-shirt or swag bag).

Tree lighting: Ralph’s Thriftway hosts the event from 5-7 p.m. Roosevelt Elementary and Reeves Middle School orchestra students will perform; Santa will be on hand for pictures; other activities include face painting and holiday food and beverage samples including from Lattin’s Country Cider Mill, Twister Donuts, Top Rung Brewery out of Lacey and Karma Vineyards out of Chelan.

Shelton Festival of the Nativity: This free event features a live Nativity scene with animals, creche displays, children’s activities and musical performances at 1200 Connection St., Shelton. Events begin at 5 p.m. with the live Nativity scene with animals; then the Hallelujah Bell Ringers play at 6:30; the children’s Nativity scene performance is at 7; at 7:30, the community musical program starts; and the viewing of crèche displays is at 8:30. Light refreshments will be provided.

Wrinkles of Washington Christmas Magic: The musical revue begins at 2 p.m. at the Lacey Senior Center, 6757 Pacific Ave SE, and 2 p.m. Dec. 12, at the Olympia Senior Center, 222 Columbia St NW. A bake sale will be at each show. Tickets are $10, with proceeds benefitting Senior Services for South Sound.
