Olympia City Council accepts land donation near Woodland Trail
The Olympia City Council voted Tuesday to accept a land donation of 2.39 acres near the Olympia Woodland Trail.
The property consists of nine separate lots about a third of a mile east of the Eastside Street trailhead and just south of the Olympia Woodland Trail itself. The land is being donated by David and Sharon Cammarano. The land’s assessed value is $78,150, according to the county assessor.
The city intends to keep the properties as open space. The properties have heavy vegetation suitable for wildlife habitat, but are undevelopable because of the topography, according to the city.
The city reports that maintenance for the land will cost about $1,410 a year and would consist of hazardous tree removal, noxious weed control and monitoring any homeless encampments. The latter would include debris cleanup.
