High wind warning issued

A high wind warning is in effect from 2 to 10 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service office in Seattle.

The brunt of the storm will be north and west of Thurston County, where winds are forecast to be 19 to 24 mph Thursday, then 23-28 mph between 10 p.m. and midnight. Gusts to 38 mph are forecast.

The strongest wind on the central coast will be about 4 p.m. and peak around 50 mph with gusts to 70 mph.

At about 3 p.m. high winds will first reach Pierce County, then spread north in the next several hours.

Rain and showers are forecast through early next week.
