Olympia City Council to host 2016 planning retreat this weekend

The Olympia City Council will hold its annual planning retreat Friday and Saturday to establish goals and priorities for 2016.

The retreat will run noon-5 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Port of Olympia boardroom, on Percival Plaza at 626 Columbia St., Suite 1-B. The council also will meet for a social dinner at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Dockside Bistro, 501 Columbia St. NW.

No binding decisions will be made at the retreat, which is open to the public.

The agenda includes a review of 2015 accomplishments and challenges, followed by discussions on economic development strategies, council committee assignments, an action plan for the city’s comprehensive plan and implicit bias. The latter term describes a person’s subconscious reactions to other races.
