Alto a Las Deportaciones!: Immigrant and Refugee Solidarity: A discussion about supporting the worldwide struggles of immigrants and refugees, from 7-9 p.m. at Obsidian, 414 Fourth Ave. E., Olympia.

The House of Welcome: Help celebrate 20 years of The Evergreen State College’s Longhouse Education and Cultural Center at noon at the state Capital Museum Coach House, 211 21st Ave. SW, Olympia. Long Lake Management District: The annual community meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at 6729 Pacific Ave. SE. Presentations include the 2016 work plan, weed management techniques, Long Lake water levels and issues with noxious plants. Information: Sharman Ballantine, 360-493-6304.

Wednesday Jan. 27

Eye on Nature: A field trip fundraiser for a program that connects children to nature through free field trips to Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. 5-9 p.m. at Fish Tale Brew Pub, 515 Jefferson St. SE, Olympia. Suggested $10 door donation. Proceeds donated from the night’s sales.

Five Women Read “The Exception and the Rule”: A play by Bertolt Brecht, that was performed at the Null Set Coffee House in 1967 as a puppet play will begin at 7:30 p.m. at The Olympia Timberland Library, 313 Eighth Ave. Readers will include Llyn De Danaan, Susan Tuzzolino, Pat Holm, Sarah Stockholm and Laura Schleyer. Free.

Disaster Preparedness: The Thurston County League of Women Voters general meeting topic for January is an overview of seismic hazards in Washington, what to expect from the Big One and how to prepare, 6-8 p.m. at the Olympia Center, 222 Columbia St. NW, in rooms 101 and 102.

Jan 29

Capitol Lake public meeting: The Department of Enterprise Services will host a public meeting about the long-term management of Capitol Lake from 9:30-11 a.m. at the 1500 Jefferson Street building between 14th Avenue and Maple Park Avenue in Olympia. Enterprise Services must develop a report that summarizes the work of the committee and submit it to the Legislature by Jan. 1, 2017.

Lunafest film festival: Soroptimist International of Olympia’s film festival is at 6:30 p.m. 2016 at South Puget Sound Community College, Building 26, Room 105 Lecture Hall, 2011 Mottman Road SW, Olympia.
