Meet the Slow Food USA executive director: Richard McCarthy will speak at 7 p.m. at The Evergreen State College (Seminar III, lecture room C1105) about the connection between the slow food movement and farmers markets. Panorama Republicans meet: The 2 p.m. meeting is in the Quinault Auditorium, on the lower level of the Quinault Apartment building, 1835 Circle Lane, Lacey. Garry Holland, chairman of the Thurston County Republicans, will describe how the delegates, the Feb. 20 precinct caucus, the March 12 county caucus, and the county and state conventions function. The one-hour meetings are open to all. Name tags are encouraged.
Understanding ISIS and the New Global War on Terror: American author, activist and political commentator Phyllis Bennis will speak at noon at the Library Lobby at The Evergreen State College, 2700 Evergreen Parkway NW, Olympia.

Making Safe Havens for Bees: Bee advocate Heather Wood will speak at the Olympia Timberland Library from 7:30-8:45 p.m. The program will include an introduction to natural beekeeping and information on catching wild swarms.
