Masks for Mardi Gras Music Education: A mask-making fundraiser benefits music education in Olympia schools. Participants will be assisted in the craft of mask decorating while learning the history and cultural significance of masks. Four styles of masks offered: Bauta, Arlecchino, Columbina and Zanni. Cost is $10-$25 depending on design. 3-5 p.m. at Masque and Pettycote, 209 Washington St. NE, Olympia. Participants can join Fat Tuesday festivities on Tuesday at the Fish Tale Brewpub for more fundraising activities in support of music education in local schools.

Lunar New Year Eve Dance: Folk dance and lion dance, 9 p.m. to midnight at Lien Hoa Temple: 1211 N. Wilson St. Olympia.

12th annual Conservation Breakfast: Capitol Land Trust holds breakfast from 7-8:30 a.m., at Marcus Pavilion, Saint Martin’s University, 5300 Pacific Ave. SE, in Lacey. Guest speaker is Martin LeBlanc, co-founder of the Children & Nature Network.

Travel to Guatemala: Marc Harrison discusses pictures from his nine-day tour, including Mayan pyramids, Antigua, UNESCO World Heritage site Lake Atitlan, botanical gardens and candid shots of people of Guatemala. 10:15 a.m., Olympia Senior Center, 222 Columbia St. NW, Olympia. Making Safe Havens for Bees: Bee advocate Heather Wood speaks at the Olympia Timberland Regional Library 7:30-8:45 p.m. Program includes introduction to natural beekeeping and information about catching wild swarms. Feb. 11

Love for a Change gala: Sponsored by SideWalk, 6-9 p.m. at South Puget Sound Community College Student Union Building. The evening begins with a cocktail hour, featuring live music, followed by a family-style gourmet dinner and program presentations.
