Five days after a Lacey man was pulled over on northbound Interstate 5 for driving 110 mph, two drivers topped that speed late Thursday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 9:15 p.m. Thursday, an 18-year-old Olympia man and a 20-year-old Oregon man apparently were racing on southbound I-5 near Tumwater when a trooper clocked them at speeds of more than 110 mph.

Both men were arrested on suspicion of reckless driving, Trooper Guy Gill said Sunday. They were booked into the Thurston County Jail and their vehicles — an Acura Integra and Ford Mustang — were impounded, he said.

“We take these kinds of incidents very seriously,” Gill said. “They can cause very, very serious collisions or fatalities.”
