Shelton man accused of sexually assaulting woman in Olympia

A Shelton man has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman and injecting an unknown substance into her arm.

Aslan Martin Jeffery, 35, appeared Monday in Thurston County Superior Court on a charge of third-degree rape. Bail was set at $50,000, and arraignment was set for Feb. 23.

At 11:53 p.m. Saturday, Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call in the 500 block of Madrona Beach Road Northwest near U.S. 101.

A 22-year-old female reported that a man she had recently met in Belfair was trying to hurt her.

According to court documents, the suspect had agreed to drive the victim “up north.” However, he drove the victim south from Belfair to an isolated area in Olympia, where he sexually assaulted her.

The suspect then drove to another area and fell asleep. The victim got out of the vehicle and ran to a nearby home where she called for help, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The victim reported that the suspect at one point had injected an unknown substance into her right arm. A deputy observed that the victim’s arm had some light redness and appeared to be swollen, according to court documents.

The deputies located Jeffery inside his pickup truck at a nearby parking lot. He refused to get out of the truck and was apprehended only after deputies broke the truck’s window, according to documents. The victim identified Jeffery as the man who assaulted her.

At Monday’s hearing, Judge James Dixon said Jeffery’s criminal history dates back to 1999 with 25 total convictions. Jeffery is listed as a transient.
