Monday

Romero meetings: Thurston County Commissioner Sandra Romero meets once a month with people for informal coffee chats on a variety of issues. Meetings are: Rainier: 9:30-10:30 a.m., Rainier City Hall, 102 Rochester St. W.; Yelm: 11 a.m.-noon: Pizzeria La Gitana, 309 Yelm Ave. E; Lacey: 2-3 p.m., Forza Coffee, 130 Marvin Road SE.

Wednesday

“War Against the People: Israel, the Palestinians and Global Pacification”: Jeff Halper, Israeli peace and human-rights activist, will speak at 7 p.m. at First Christian Church, 701 Franklin St. SE, Olympia. The free event is sponsored by the Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace and Justice and co-sponsored by Jewish Voice for Peace — Tacoma. History Happy Hour at Three Magnets: Sponsored by the State Capital Museum, trivia topics include Washington and South Sound history, sports and pop culture. 7 p.m., 600 Franklin St. SE. in the Barrel Room.

Tax fairness: The Thurston County League of Women Voters general meeting will address tax fairness. Traditions Cafe, 300 Fifth Ave. SW, Olympia. Wolfgang Opitz, assistant state treasurer, will speak.

Friday-Sunday

Kids consignment sale: Because of the closure of the Olympia Armory, LMNOP has relocated to the old Del’s Farm Supply building at 7720 Old Highway 99 SE, Olympia. LMNOP Kids Sale is hosting the Family Support Center of South Sound during the event. The sale runs 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Relay For Life fundraiser: Sales benefit the Phil Harlan’s Homes For Hope Relay Team and the American Cancer Society, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the VFW Hall, 2902 Martin Way E., Olympia. Information: 360-704-9800.

88th Academy Awards Oscar Party: The Olympia Film Society celebrates at the Capitol Theater, beginning with red carpet action at 4 p.m., and the show, which will be simulcast on the big screen, at 5 p.m., at 206 Fifth Ave. SE. Tickets are $10 for general admission, and $7 for OFS members, and are available at the Olympia Film Society website or at the door. Dress to impress and have your picture taken holding an Oscar statue.
