Car hits Olympia motorcyclist and passenger

A 58-year-old Olympia man was injured and taken to a Pierce County hospital after he crashed his motorcycle on state Route 512, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 3:30 p.m. Saturday, the man was riding his Harley-Davidson westbound on Route 512 when he apparently drove next to an Audi on the left shoulder. The Audi hit the motorcycle, sending it off the road and into a cable barrier, according to the state patrol.

The Olympia man’s passenger, a 48-year-old Tacoma woman, was taken to Tacoma General Hospital. Both people were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The 50-year-old Spanaway man driving the Audi was not injured. The cause of the crash was under investigation. Drugs or alcohol were thought to be involved.
