Woman flown to Harborview after Thurston County dog attack

An 92-year-old woman has life-threatening injuries after getting mauled by four Pitbull mixed-breed dogs in the Scott Lake area of Thurston County, according to a press release from the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred while the woman was visiting a friend’s home on Entree View Drive southwest. The woman had gone to visit a neighbor who was not home at the time. The woman let herself into the home, which was not uncommon since the neighbor provides some day-to-day care-giving tasks for the woman.

According to the release:

After entering the house, the woman was attacked by up to four dogs present inside the home. Only one dog belonged to the homeowner. The other dogs belonged to a relative of the homeowner.

While the woman was being mauled, the homeowner arrived home and immediately intervened to stop the attack and called for medical aid.

The woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle at around 6:05 p.m.

Animal Services also responded to the scene to assist with potential quarantine of the dogs. No further information regarding the dogs is available.

There is no criminal case pending as a result of the attack.
