The Shelton Rotary recently held it’s annual White Elephant Auction and raised nearly $2,000 to benefit their Christmas Giving program.

The program assists local families experiencing hard times who otherwise would not be able to afford gifts. In 2015, the Rotary spent more than $3,500 to help 42 kids. The program began in the late 1970s and has expanded to include children from several Mason County schools.

Angela Barnes, Shelton Rotary president-elect, gets emotional when talking about Christmas wish lists asking for basic needs like coats, gloves or shoes, and other necessities usually taken for granted.

To donate to this program, contributions can be sent to the Shelton Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 633, Shelton, WA 98584.
