Karaffa crowned Miss Thurston County
Kuinn Karaffa was crowned Miss Thurston County Sunday night in Olympia.
The Miss Thurston County pagent is a preliminary to Miss Washington and Miss America. The local pageant, founded in 1975, has distributed more than $80,000 is scholarships. Karaffa won more than $5,000 in scholarship money.
Karaffa will compete for Miss Washington in July.
She is a Montesano graduate, studies pre-law, and lives in Olympia. She has state champion chickens and rabbits and has also been featured in the state’s agriculture calendar.
Her platform is Habitat for Humanity.
The local pageant is open to girls between the ages of 17-24.
