Homes First fundraiser: The National Association of Professional Mortgage Women is sponsoring a St. Patrick’s Day event to support Homes First and affordable rental housing in Thurston County. Olympia World Affairs Council: “Maintaining the Mandate of Heaven: Power, Prosperity and Problems in 21st Century China,” is the topic of this month’s meeting featuring Karl Fields, professor of Asian politics and government at the University of Puget Sound. Capital Food & Wine Festival: The yearly nonprofit fundraiser featuring more than 100 Washington wines, regional breweries, local restaurant fare and live music. Relay for Life Fundraiser: Dinner and dancing with the Mud Bay Blues Band & Laura Lowe, and special guests George Barner & Lanny Slater, at the VFW Hall, 2902 Martin Way E. Author Jerry Ramsey: In his book, “Stealing Puget Sound: 1832-1869,” author Jerry V. Ramsey exposes the political tension between British settlers and U.S. pioneers who crossed the Oregon Trail 15 years later.
