3 Thurston County people injured in McCleary car crash

A 91-year-old man and a 94-year-old woman, both from Olympia, were injured Sunday near McCleary after their car was struck by another vehicle.

Both were taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A 66-year-old woman from Tumwater who collided with them was taken to Summit Pacific Hospital in Elma.

According to the state patrol, the man and woman were westbound on state Route 108 about 1 p.m. when they stopped at a stop sign on state Route 8. They then turned onto eastbound state Route 8 where they were hit by the 66-year-old woman’s car, which was traveling westbound on the same road.

She was driving a Mazda Protege, while the couple was in a Kia Sportage.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
