South Sound People: ORLA raises funds for community
The Olympia Regional Learning Academy's first annual Empty Bowls & Open Mic event was a great success for everyone involved.
More than 20 crockpots of homemade soup were donated, and the nearly 100 bowls handmade at ORLA by students and faculty were sold with additional bowls made and donated by students of the South Puget Sound Community College Ceramics Program.
The best news of all? The nearly $900 in donations will help families through the Family Support Center.
Thanks go to the singers and musicians who performed to a supportive audience all evening. And lastly, to ORLA's devoted staff and volunteers without whom another amazing event would not have happened.
