Peeps come to ‘life’ in Olympia library contest
Love or hate the sugar-coated marshmallow snack, the Easter confection Peeps have proved themselves endlessly versatile in the art form of dioramas, a 3-D scene re-created in miniature.
The Olympia Timberland Library is again sponsoring a literary Peeps contest, inviting participants to build a scene from a favorite book using the colorful chicks and bunnies.
Crafting workshops with supplied materials will be held at the library from 1-5 p.m. on April 7, and from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on April 9.
Contest rules and entry forms will be available at the library’s information desks starting April 1.
Entries will be accepted April 14-21, and winners will be determined by public votes April 22-29. Winners will be announced on the Olympia Timberland Library Facebook page.
The dioramas will be on display until May 7.
This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Olympia Timberland Library. All Timberland Regional Library programs are free.
The Olympia Timberland Library is at 313 Eighth Ave. SE. For information, contact the library at 360-352-0595 or visit TRL.org.
