Detours and lane closures are expected on two South Sound roads next week because of maintenance projects scheduled by BNSF Railway, according to a news release from Thurston County Public Works.

Marvin Road Southeast, at the BNSF railroad crossing north of Mullen Road, will be closed from 4 a.m. Monday (April 4) to 3 p.m. Wednesday (April 6).

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to use marked detour routes,” the news release stated.

BNSF also has maintenance scheduled at the Atchinson Drive Southeast crossing just south of Brianna Court Southeast, from Wednesday (April 6) through Friday (April 8). A closure of those lanes may create temporary traffic delays at various times so motorists may want to avoid the area during that project as well.

Portable message signs alerting motorists to the closures will be in place until work is complete.
