Humans, dogs escape Olympia fire, but reptiles likely perished
Several reptiles may have died, but no humans were injured in a mobile home fire Thursday afternoon, according to the Olympia Fire Department.
Olympia firefighters were dispatched to a mobile home on the 1500 block of Lilly Road at about 1:45 p.m., according to Deputy Chief Greg Wright. The residence was home to several people and pets. Six dogs were rescued from the fire.
But because of the home’s condition by the time the fire was contained, it’s unlikely that the many reptiles that lived inside survived, Wright said.
The American Red Cross is assisting the human residents displaced by the fire.
Wright said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Lacey Fire District 3 also responded to the fire.
