A rollover crash on northbound I-5, followed by an accident involving a Thurston County medic vehicle in the southbound lanes, slowed or halted traffic in both directions Sunday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 9:30 a.m. Sunday, emergency responders were dispatched to a rollover accident in the area of milepost 86 on northbound I-5.

Detailed information wasn’t immediately available, but trooper Todd Bartolac said one person was taken to Capital Medical Center in west Olympia as a result of that crash.

The northbound lanes are now clear, he said about 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Meanwhile, a Thurston County medic vehicle, which was en route to the rollover, had traveled northbound on I-5 and crossed the median to turn south. The vehicle got up to speed in the southbound shoulder, then merged into traffic when it was hit by a truck pulling an RV, Bartolac said.

The two medics were unhurt, but a female passenger in the truck suffered a broken leg, he said.

The medic vehicle was not transporting a patient at the time of the crash, Bartolac said.
