Car vs. bicycle crash in Lacey under investigation as possible hit-and-run
A car vs. bicycle crash in Lacey Tuesday afternoon is under investigation as a possible hit-and-run because the driver left the scene, a Lacey police sergeant said.
About 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, a man, thought to be in his 30s, was eastbound on his bicycle on the south side of Third Avenue Southeast when he crossed Third Avenue at Golf Club Road and was struck by a car, Sgt. Dave Campbell.
An off-ramp from Interstate 5 leads traffic onto Third Avenue.
The man suffered scrapes and abrasions as a result of the crash, but declined further medical attention at the scene, Campbell said.
The driver, a Lacey woman, left the scene, but was later stopped by police in the area of College Street Southeast and 14th Avenue. A vehicle description led to her being detained, he said.
