A tragic accident in downtown Olympia that took the life of a 61-year-old woman continued to be well read last week.
1. Woman, 61, dies from injuries after being hit by truck in downtown Olympia: The woman has been identified as 61-year-old Maria “Dancing Heart” Hoaglund. She died Friday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the King County Medical Examiner. Her death was ruled an accident.
2. Residents worried about crime in Olympia’s Eastside neighborhood: Residents of Olympia’s Eastside neighborhood worry that their corner of town has become a hotbed of crime — with vehicle prowls, burglaries and drug deals all too prevalent.
3. Yelm man sentenced for sexual assault at costume party: A Yelm man will serve 45 days in jail after being accused of raping a woman at a Halloween party in 2013.
4. Restaurant inspections for April 27: “Evidence of insect infestation. Must obtain service of pest control contractor.”
5. Fire crews spend 30 minutes removing woman from rollover truck crash: The woman, who was driving a Ford F-350, was hauling an empty horse trailer, said Sgt. Carla Carter of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. The trailer left the road, which caused the driver to over-correct, resulting in the crash.
