Blaze burns 2,000 gallons of oil at Chehalis gas station
Fire officials Monday were investigating a large blaze Sunday that burned about 2,000 gallons of oil stored at a Chehalis gas station.
Chehalis Fire Chief Ken Cardinale said the fire spread rapidly through the office and warehouse at Cenex about 10:30 p.m. He said 2,000 gallons of lubricating oil stored inside the warehouse area burned, causing explosions.
No injuries were reported. The gas station on the property was not open at the time of the fire, which was reported at 10:34 p.m.
Investigators were trying to determine what caused the blaze. A hazardous materials team was on-site Monday.
Cardinale said crews managed to keep the water and oil runoff out of storm drains.
