Lacey’s director of Parks and Recreation has retired after nearly seven years in the job.

Lori Flemm oversaw the growth of the city’s parks and open space from 500 acres to more than 1,200, according to a news release.

Flemm also was responsible for securing many grants for the city, including a $1 million federal Community Development Block Grant, which helped expand the Virgil S. Clarkson Senior Center, doubling the size of the facility to 10,000 square feet, and allowing for the increase in programming and services.

A community reception for Flemm is planned for 5:30 p.m. June 2 in the City Council Chambers at the Lacey City Hall, 420 College St. SE.

In the coming month, the city will initiate a search and selection process to hire a new director.

For more information about the reception, call 360-491-3214 or email Peri Edmonds at pedmonds@ci.lacey.wa.us.
