Teen driver flown to Harborview after two-car crash near Tenino
A 16-year-old driver was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, and two other people were transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, after sustaining injuries in a two-car collision Sunday morning near Tenino.
The teen driver was traveling westbound on state Route 507 at Old Military Road Southeast, near milepost 17, when the vehicle he was driving, a green 1995 Honda Accord, crossed the center lane and struck a gray 2004 Honda Civic in the eastbound lane, according to a news release from the Washington State Patrol. The crash was reported at 10:34 a.m.
The driver of the eastbound vehicle was a 24-year-old man from Rainier. The vehicle driven by the teen also had a 16-year-old passenger from Wyoming.
Both vehicles were totaled, and the roadway was blocked for more than five hours, according to the release.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating the crash, and speed is believed to have played a factor, according to the release. However, criminal charges are not expected to be filed, a patrol spokesman said.
