1. Body found in Budd Inlet near Priest Point Park: The Olympia Police Department and the Port of Olympia Harbor Patrol were among the agencies that responded when a body was found about 300 feet from the shore.
2. Coroner identifies man found in Budd Inlet on Saturday: The cause of death was “asphyxia due to saltwater drowning,” but the manner of death is still pending.
3. Man who molested girl in Yelm receives alternative sentence: Joseph Scott Wahleithner appeared in Thurston County Superior Court where he received a special sex offender sentencing alternative, commonly referred to as SSOSA. He pleaded guilty in March to first-degree child molestation. Prosecutors had recommended a sentence of 59 and a half years to life in prison. Under the SSOSA, Wahleithner was sentenced to one year in jail with the rest of the time suspended. He will be on lifetime probation and prohibited from having contact with minors.
4. Child killed mother injured in Centralia vehicle crash: Police say the woman was driving on a two-lane road, crossed the center line and hit an unoccupied pickup truck. The child was sitting in the back seat wearing a seatbelt but died of her injuries.
5. Intruder sneaks up on woman in her Olympia apartment: An Olympia woman in her apartment looked up from her computer at 5:30 Wednesday morning to see an intruder standing behind her. Colleen Wasner had let her cat out and left a sliding door unlocked, she said.
