The queen for Rochester’s 37th annual Swede Day will be crowned at 6 p.m. June 4 at Swede Hall, 18543 Albany St.
The coronation celebration includes homemade strawberry shortcake and live music. Cost is $3, plus a Swede Day button, which are $1 and available at the door.
This year’s candidates, all juniors at Rochester High School, are Matilyn Ashton, Natalie Bethune, Eliah Laramie, Kyra Letteer and Caitlynn Morris.
The court will represent the Grand Mound-Rochester area in parades and events.
Swede Day is always held on the third Saturday of June, June 18 this year, and was formerly titled “Swede Day Midsommer Festival,” in honor of Swedish and Finnish settlers in the area. It includes a parade, a pancake breakfast and Swedish meatball lunch.
