Body of man found floating in Budd Inlet near Olympia
The Thurston County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a man found floating in Puget Sound’s Budd Inlet at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday near the 400 block of 35th Avenue Northeast.
The man’s identity and cause of death are “unidentified,” at this point, said Sheriff’s Office Lt. Tim Rudloff. The man appears to be Caucasian, in his 50s and transient, he said. No watercraft was found that could have been associated with the case, he added.
“We turned it over to the coroner,” Rudloff said.
Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock said the man was found by someone who was walking nearby.
“There doesn’t appear to be any trauma associated to him,” Warnock said. “We’ll know more when we do our exam.”
An autopsy will be Tuesday or Wednesday, he said.
On May 14, the body of Brady Grivel, 50, was pulled from Budd Inlet off Priest Point Park beach after being found by members of Olympia Area Rowing. Grivel’s kayak, which contained letters and documents, was later found by another group of boaters.
