Railroad ties contribute to brush fire near Littlerock
Multiple fire departments responded to a 2-acre brush fire in the 11000 block of Endicott Road Southwest on Friday afternoon.
Several piles of old railroad ties were burning, creating black smoke that could be seen for several miles. As of 5 p.m., the fire was under control, but not out, according to a West Thurston Fire social media post.
Firefighters from West Thurston, McLane Black Lake, Griffin and East Olympia responded, as well as several teams from the state Department of Natural Resources and two crews from Cedar Creek Corrections Center.
The cause is under investigation.
