Prescribed burn planned in Thurston County Tuesday
The Center for Natural Lands Management is planning a prescribed ecological burn today in Thurston County, at the Glacial Heritage Preserve, about 2 miles southwest of Littlerock.
Expected ignition time for the burn will be around 11:30 a.m., and is planned to burn for about four hours.
The purpose of the burn is to control scotch broom and other invasive plants.
Burns are done by nationally qualified firefighters with training and experience, and with sufficient firefighting equipment to conduct a safe burn.
To report nuisance smoke, call Nathan Johnson, 781-927-5341, or email njohnson@cnlm.org.
