Trauma training report: Olympia residents Dr. Leyla Welkin, Evan Welkin and Federica Faggioli will present their international project to support trauma training for refugee workers in Europe and Turkey. 7:30 p.m. at Traditions Cafe, 300 Fifth Ave. SW, Olympia. A question-and-answer period will follow.

A Midsummer’s Ice Cream event: As part of the second annual Lacey Days celebration, Lacey’s history museum is offering free ice cream while supplies last from 5- 8 p.m. Volunteers will make oral presentations and set up craft stations for kids. The Lacey Fire Department will bring its antique 1945 Seagraves fire engine, and there will be musical entertainment. 829 Lacey Street SE. The museum is open Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., or by appointment by calling 360-438-0209.

Private garden tour: Open for one day only when the WSU Mason County Master Gardener Garden Tour will showcase six private gardens in the Alderbrook neighborhood and along state Route 106. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Addresses and directions will be in the tickets, available at Lynch Creek Floral, Tozier’s Hardware, Brilliant Moon and the Shelton Farmer’s Market (Saturday 9-2 only), all in downtown Shelton, and Hunter Farms and the Union City Market, both in Union. Tickets are $12 or two for $20. Proceeds benefit WSU Master Gardener programs. Call 360-426-9845 for more information.

Lacey South Sound Chamber of Commerce South Sound BBQ festival: 10 a.m.-5 p.m., at Huntamer Park. Admission is free. The Coors Light sports garden is open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Included are local barbecue competition, a chicken wing eating contest for teens and adults, and a tribal salmon challenge. Skookumchuck Grange barbecue and auction: Silent auction will be 3-4 p.m., and a live auction follows. Proceeds will fund Grange operations, Tenino school programs such as “Words for Thirds,” in which third-graders receive dictionaries, and FFA scholarships. Steak dinner, 3:30-5 p.m. $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and military, $10 for children ages 6-10. People 5 and younger and older than 100 are free. 5345 Skookumchuck Road SE, Tenino. Wildwood neighborhood parade: Paraders (and their bikes, scooters, strollers and/or pets) should meet at the Eskridge entrance to Trillium Park at 10 a.m. to get decorated. The parade will start at 10:30, so parade watchers can line the streets then and join in the celebration at the Wildwood Building, 2828 Capitol Boulevard SE.

Summer Guided Tours of the Schmidt House: Free guided tours of Tumwater’s historic Schmidt House are led by Bob Crim, who for 60 years has been the caretaker of the house and grounds. First Tuesdays at 11 a.m. Group tours are also available by appointment. The tour requires negotiating stairways. Donations accepted.
