Lane, ramp closures expected on Hwy 101

Drivers who use Highway 101 in the Olympia area may encounter delays at night this week, as contractors stripe newly-paved sections of the road.

Striping is weather dependent, and could be rescheduled to the next dry evening if weather is rainy. Closures are as follows:

  • 11 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday: Drivers may encounter closures of the southbound Interstate 5 exit to northbound Highway 101 and the northbound I-5 exit to 101. Both ramps will be closed at some point during the night, but not at the same time. Signed detours will be provided.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday: Single- and double-lane closures on northbound Highway 101 will be in place from Capitol Lake to Black Lake Boulevard beginning at 8 p.m. All lanes will reopen at 6 a.m. on the following day.
  • Thursday: Single- and double-lane closures on southbound Highway 101 will be in place between Kamilche and Tumwater. All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. the following morning.

Real-time traveler information is available on the WSDOT app and the WSDOT regional Twitter feed. Advance information is available from the Olympic Region Weekly Construction and Traffic Updates web pages.
