Average retail gasoline prices in the Tacoma area have fallen 1 cent per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.67 per gallon early Monday, according to a daily survey conducted by the fuel monitoring service GasBuddy.

Prices Monday were 52.6 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 2.4 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

The lowest price noted Monday in Pierce County, $2.34 per gallon, was recorded at a Central Tacoma Costco and a Southwest Tacoma Arco station.

In Thurston County on Monday, the average price was pegged at $2.70 per gallon, up 3.6 cents on the month and down 50.2 cents over one year.

The lowest price in Thurston County on Monday, $2.43 per gallon, could be found at Arco stations on Martin Way and on Evergreen Park Drive.

Nationally, the average price settled at $2.21 per gallon Monday, down 2.9 cents on the week and 14.3 cents for the month.

“We’re still seeing that inventories are high across the board and crude has been weaker. Despite the high demand, prices have been ticking down. We’ll see this pattern continues for the next few weeks,” said Will Speer, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst.
